As we enter the final month of the year, the time has come once again to reflect on your social media campaigns and identify ways to improve and grow in the coming year.
Here are a few questions you need to ask before you start your deep dive.
- In general, how are your channels doing?
- What channel do you think is bringing you the greatest ROI?
- Do you need to shift your focus in the New Year?
- Are you reaching the right audience?
Start by making notes or just mentally answering these questions. When you are ready, it’s time to take a full inventory of everything that was successful and everything that wasn’t. Now let’s look at your followers: who you are following, when your followers are online, and what types of posts are yielding the highest engagement rates.
Remember, you’re not making your full plans for the upcoming year just yet. That will come after you can sit down and analyze all the data from this last year. Keep a running list of all the improvements you could make be making. It’s important to look at the types of images you’re using, videos you’ve chosen, the message in your copy, the time you are posting, and the platform you’re posting on.
If your employees have personal accounts and they are posting and connecting themselves to your agency, this is also a good time to review their accounts briefly. This shouldn’t be a long process; just take the time to quickly check and make sure nothing inappropriate is being shared.
When you’ve reviewed your accounts and your employees’ accounts and you have a real sense of what has happened in the past year, then you can begin getting into the finer details. Your deeper dive will more than certainly include a more exact figures, graphs and charts. If you have the time, try to put together a presentation to share with your coworkers and solicit their feedback. By bringing all the minds together, you’ll unlock insight you didn’t have before. Use all of this to your advantage when preparing your social media strategy for the upcoming year.
